Ballerup AFC who has agreed to help raise funds for a young boy from East Kilbride called Aidan McAvoy. Aidan is a remarkable 2 year old boy who has been diagnosed with a form of cerebral palsy and his family are looking to raise £40,000 to fund a trip to America for Aidan to receive life changing surgery.
Aidan was born 12 weeks prematurely and has had to constantly fight for his life since birth. Aidan suffers from chronic lung disease and had to undergo major heart surgery when he was only 5 weeks old.Aidan has now been diagnosed with spastic hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. This affects the left side of Aidan’s body causing increased muscle tone which results in Aidan being unable to walk properly. It also severely impairs Aidan’s balance causing frequent falls and injuries. As this illness causes Aidan’s bones and muscles to grow at different rates, everyday tasks most of us take for granted will become even more difficult for Aidan to perform as he grows and develops.
Ballerup AFC have arranged a Race Night on Saturday 1st October 2011 at the Fives Playsport and plan on holding an auction on the night with all the proceeds being donated to the Aidan's Goal fund. The committee of Ballerup AFC are currently approaching local businesses looking for donationsfor the auction. Any additional donations from players/friends/family members/other teams etc will be much appreciated. Obviously the more prizes we have on offer, the more money we will be able to raise for this worthy cause. A facebook auction site will be set up detailing all the prizes available at the auction and giving the general public the opportunity to bid on these prizes before the Race Night, please keep posted for more details on this.
If anyone wishes to contribute a prize then please contact Andy Dykes on 07798636973 or email
ballerupafc@live.co.uk.
Ideally we would like the auction prizes on offer through the Facebook Auction site as soon as possible so we would appreciate a response as soon you can.
