You have a crowd who are minimum of 8ft behind the touchline (due to a rope) as most crowds do they are giving the opposition some stick. Now nine times our of ten the opposition player comes back with a good answer and to be fair most folk laugh.
Normal every day football as far as I have known it.
In a game I was at the ref called me over and said "If you don't shut your crowd up I'll have them all removed or the game stops" "If your crowd keep slagging him he might react and I'd have to card him"
I asked if a crowd at Ibrox or Parkhead barraks a player should the game be stopped , reply " that's the seniors that's different" It wasn't that long ago (roughly a couple of month) when we had a delegation from the refs at our county meeting telling us "amateur, junior or senior it's all the same rules"
To me going by today that just isn't true.
For the refs who read this there was no threats, no intimidation and no encroachment, what law did we break?

To be fair Dreggin we would need to be there to experience first hand what exactly was going on.
However, usually if a 'crowd' is over the top then the only power the ref has is to approach the official(s) of the supporting team and request that they tone it down so to speak. The ref can report the club if their supporter's are over the top e.g. drinking, threatening behaviour etc and in extreme circumstances abandon the game if it cannot be controlled and is likely or has become violent.
Hope this helps.
