Just heard Hugh Knapp Secretary of Scottish Amateur Football Association is retiring at end of the month. Great man. I beleive he has done so much to support amateur game in the country. Horrible job trying to please 550 plus clubs and loads of assocations but think he achieved great things in the job. Big man in every sense. I hear he's at every big national and district cup tie all across the country and has time for every club - well known ones and new ones. I wish him a happy and healthy and well deserved retirement.

A gentleman in every respect but not a man to be taken lightly . Staunch defender of the Amateur game who as well as being a fountain of knowledge in all aspects of the game ,someone who is always approachable but will give you the straight answer whether you like it or not .
Was speaking with him last night and he reckons that he will be finished with all things football - I will believe it when I see it . Very big shoes for Martin Bell to fill .
Best Wishes to Hugh on his retirement .

I agree with all the previous comments. Hugh is a gentleman in all walks of life. Scottish amateur football will miss the whole of the Knapp family who worked tirelessly at all national semi and cup finals taking gate money, making teas etc. Too good a man to be lost entirely to the game.
