Since the start of the season Minerva have lost 3 players to junior clubs,

while the chairman wishes all the players the very best at their new clubs, minerva will not reviece a penny for them. However if they move junior clubs fees have to be agreed. Bit unfair and surley a rule should be put in place to compensate the bigger teams coming in and taking players. Although Minerva have a sqaud big enough and enough quality to compete makes things a little harder when the stronger players are constantly being taken away.

VOTP makes a valid point (for once. Lol) Our club have lost three players who I don't intend to name but the respective Junior clubs were Kilbirnie, Lanark and Pollok. All three clubs play in the Stagecoach Super League Premier. Without a shadow of doubt it is not right that Junior clubs can do this without some sort of recompense to the amateur club.

Absolutely agree. I think the best we can hope for is a couple of (usually used) match balls, the possibility of a training session or two with the Junior team and the "promise" of a friendly that never transpires.

I have been told that set-ups like Hutchi-Vale and the like do get a donation as a player rises through the professional divisions. Given that these types of clubs are community / development focused, it's never thought twice about. However, once a club is adult amateur, it's against the grain to accept payment of any kind. Perhaps we just need to be a little more insistent (and fly...nothing wrong with a 'donation' after all...) when it comes to one of our players moving on.

Wilson why wouldnt you want to name them? Your club must be doing something right if these clubs are coming to watch ur players and think that they can play at junior level, its a big achievement for some boys yi know especially with the clubs mentioned.

(VOTP) Bit of a Smartar*e i see! :O :O

If an amateur player signs professional terms with a Junior club, the amateur club is entitled to compensation (SFA rules). If he signs as an amateur no compen is payable. Your league should be able to give advice.

I know the players that have went and BACK certainly applies to apart of that group...

Doesny matter anyway, for me Junior players will always follow the money, so it should be expected if someone comes in with the reddies then there off...

Its poopy, but just the way the cookie crumbles when ye "attract" juniors to your club

VOTP....... 1st and fore-most its a genuine question? Secondly its a bit of banter into the bargain :P
You should be delighted for these players, hence why you should name them even tho ur a little bitter about ur club receiving no money or perks for this happening.

I would hazard a guess that it may be ur two forwards who have moved on??

There is actually a rule for Junior clubs that is usually not followed and it does concern compensation to amateur clubs but the amateur club needs to pursue it if they think that the junior club has not applied this rule.

It apparently sets out that if a player is currently registered to a recreational club (amateur) on a recreational form then the junior club must give 7 days notice to the recreational clubs secretary that they intend to approach the recreational player with a view to signing for them. If their intentions is to sign the player non-recreational and they do not follow this process, then they can be forced to pay the amateur club £200 per player.

Suppose players leaving amatuer teams to play junior football happens to most teams at some point but why would any team be looking for compensation when the player is only trying to progress in their career. As long as the player hands back any club property and doesnt owe the club money then surely its his decision to make the choice to leave !!!

Sinky having read your posts it seems you have more info about the said players and why they left ?

When we played Minerva in the first game of the season they had a few players who looked as if the could maybe go play with some decent junior team so its no suprise if it was these players who left....

I think it's worth pointing out that this also works in reverse, we can sign players from the Junior teams without paying them anything even if they payed a fee to buy the player. It can be a bit of hassle if they don't want to let the player go but there are rules in place for this and they can't stop it.

All 3 players have played Junior before and 2 of them were with Senior clubs. All 3 clubs involved play Non Recreational football and therefore it's a step back for all 3 of them.

Pollok in my time involved there would always give donations so I really hope you have your facts straight to say they didn't contribute anything for Steven McGregor.

Tullis has left you mid-season before has he not (when going to Bellshill?) so surely that's once bitten-twice shy? Andy Gow's a decent enough centre half, it would be churlish to deny him another crack at the Juniors surely? It's not like he'll be on big bucks at Ladeside anyway...
