Hi folks,
I was wondering if there are any clubs out there who have more than one team, and have had issue's with the movement between their teams of players. Our club has three teams playing across two different Associations and want to have the ability to play players between our second team and third team. IE the subs from the 2nds getting a game a week in our third team and the ability to let the second team use the goalkeeper from our 3rd team if theirs gets injured as he did last year.

Having read the rules and taken a bit of advice from Hugh Knapp we were wondering what other experiences if any other clubs have had.

You have to register all players under the one club I.D number with the SAFA at the start of the season.i.e if you have a team in the s&d and one in the central you have to register all your players with each of the leagues under the one I.D. Number
If you do that you should be able to play players between different teams if not you can't, and obviously once they play in the national and district
cups they are cup tied to that one team.

Some leagues have different rules for registering players and playing trialists so just double check with your league also

Thanks for that, the league has a rule that specifically prevents a club from playing players signed to a club in the other association, though the advice is that as the club has the players signed to the safa under their registrations rules, we would be entitled to move them between teams as the two associations play on different nights. There is not a single cup or county cup that teams from both associations play in so the cup issue would not be a concern.

We are looking to get some more football for the boys on the subs bench of our second team when the situation allows in our third team as those boys may go a while without a competative game, but also to help out the second team if as happend last year their keeper got injured, we would have played the third team keeper in their team to help out, but couldn't as he would have been in-eligable to play for the third team anymore, its a complicated issue so thats why we were looking for other clubs experience's. We are the only club here with three adult teams so its a new one on us though we feel it will help the development of the players and the club in the long term.

Hi mate

We Blochairn Star have 2 teams who both play in the same league (different divisions) and players can play for either team- the only rule being that a player can not play for both teams in the same day eg League in the morning and Scottish in the afternoon.

You will find that your players are registered to your club and will be allocated a registration number from SAFA for the club that you play with.

Think that it is great that yous have 3 teams and getting boys games that is the same reason we strted our B Team - there should be absolutely no reason why any player registered to your club cannot play for any of the 3 teams. You might need to log registrations with the different league but just quote the players SAFA registration number on the form and when the leagues registration secretary inputs them the player will come up as registered to your club

Good luck

Thats the idea behind it, The five subs on the bench for our 1st team start in the 2nd team in the mid week games the two teams play in the one association but like your team they are different divisions. So we would like to be able to do that with the 2nd and 3rd team. We move players up when we think they are ready for the new season, and players who are not wanting to commit to the efforts needed to play in the 1st and 2nd teams can move down, which is a good set up as you get experienced players playing along side the boys who have stepped up from our under 18's team.

I see the leagues position but feel the rule is hindering us to try something different up here, so if I can show them experiences from other leagues that might help deal with their worries.
