With the paisley and district league having vastly improved in the last 5 years we are considering a league select side, however its been many many years since we had one so I was wondering how you guys selected your select side ie do you go for the best players even if you have say 6 from the one team? Do you ask teams to send players or do you approach teams with an invite? Is it for your top division only or open too all divisions? All help really appreciated, thanks arthur

Serious lack of response here Houston chap.
Its to my knowledge that league selects are picked on players recommended by their clubs, or players who are obvious contenders i.e. the best players in the league. 'x' amount of players from one club shouldn't be an issue, unless said team has plenty of enemies and the selectors will be branded as showing favouritism!!! At the end of the day mate, I dont think its rocket science, as the leagues best players should represent their league select. League select players then have a platform for potential Scottish Select representation!!

No I got lots of response mostly on my club website, its obviously rocket since cause its amazing how differently people run or have run their selects. It would have been silly not to take advice from those who have experience so thanks all, a lot for me to think about.

you would be as well contacting the SAFL, Central and AAFA directly to see their process in selecting a select squad. They 3 are the main leagues which participate in an annual tournament...

no bother - Morris Tonner is the man at the AAFA (Ayrshire), he's on here sometimes too.

You should contact Strathclyde Sat morning league for a select game.
I know they had spoken about this last season but had no teams to play.
