Hi,

Does anyone know the rule if you are away in the Scottish Cup and your game is off, can you play a home league game instead?

Cheers

My understanding is that you can and I know our association would certainly encourage it. I assume the 'three strike rule' hasn't kicked in yet, i.e. game being switched to your park

Thanks for reply Wilson, we contacted our Match Secretary this morning to ask the question who advised that we could not play a home league game as if we had any potential suspended players (which we don't) it would free them up to play in the Scottish next week!

The 3 strike rule doesn't apply as it is a 5th round replay from last week so its their first shot at playing it.

Anyone else out their clarify this rule?

Cheers

If you are the AWAY team in the Scottish you can play a competitive fixture (home or away) within your league association. Suspensions don't come into the equation. As the player will still be serving it in a competitive game.

That's my understanding.

The SAFA will not allow the HOME club in a postponed National or District Cup match to play any alternative fixture, competitive or friendly, and its my understanding that leagues are required to implement this at local level. Away clubs can get an alternative fixture. What leagues do in respect of postponements of their own league and cup matches is for each league to decide. I think most leagues apply the national policy to their own set-ups.

By the way its not a rule but it has been the SAFA policy as long as I can remember.
